Tucson Herbs & Acupuncture

Amanda Brown is the owner and founder of the Tucson Herb Store, which she began back in 2003. The Herb Store has become a place for her to mix her creative pursuits with her love of healing, herbs, and community. She has worked for over a decade and a half providing expert care to her customers at the shop as well as worked privately with clients in a clinical setting for the past 6 years.

Amanda graduated from Arizona School of Oriental Medicine in 2013 with a Masters in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine. She is deeply passionate about the wisdom and depth of healing that Chinese Medicine has to offer. She uses the art of observation and diagnosis to evaluate her patients’ health conditions and develop personalized treatment plans. She also has a sound understanding of both western and Chinese herbal medicine, knowing the complexities of their actions and how to custom formulate.

As a trained and licensed Somatic Experiencing practitioner, Amanda’s practice is deeply informed by her work in settling imbalances of the nervous system. She likes to know where her clients are struggling with their health and help them to bring their own inner resilience back online. Her integration of somatic work into her herbal medicine and acupuncture practice further supports patients in feeling more settled and stable in their healing process.

CST:  Craniosacral therapy (CST) helps to relieve injuries and trauma in the muscles, connective tissue, cranium and sacrum by using a soft, gentle, non invasive touch. It releases the soft tissues surrounding the central nervous system where past injury or trauma may have occurred. It is effective for a wide variety of ailments such as neck, shoulder and back pain, migraines, TMJ, stress, sleep disorders, brain and spinal cord injuries, PTSD, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and much more.

SE: Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a form of trauma therapy aimed at relieving and resolving symptoms of PTSD and other mental and physical health problems by focusing on the client’s felt sense of the soma (brain/body connection). This is a wonderful approach to learn how to have a more regulated nervous system and becoming fully embodied. The process involves assisting the client in the completion of the fight, flight and freeze responses through dialogue and gentle touch. What defines trauma can be experiences such as accidents, injuries, loss of a loved one, surgery or birth trauma. A more broad definition of trauma can be anything that brings us out of our present moment of awareness.
